An outstanding display from Arsenal's starlets saw them easily see of Wigan 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners team, with an average age of 19, brushed aside a Wigan side full of Premier League experience.
Two goals from Jay Simpson put the home side in control and the scoring was completed by Mexican youngster Carlos Vela.
Boss Arsene Wenger said, "I am very proud of the players and of the quality of the display.
"This is the most complete side of youngsters (Arsenal have had in his time at the club), and with many good young English players.
"It's very good for the future of the club to see that it is in safe hands."
