Yaya Sanogo ended a difficult week with a solid cameo performance in loan side Ajax's 3-0 victory over Willem II in the Dutch Eredvisie on Sunday.
Sanogo was criticised during the week by Ronald de Boer, with the Ajax youth coach telling reporters: "When I see Sanogo, I still have my doubts. I have still found no qualities with which you can do something".
Sanogo hit back at the comments with an impressive display off the bench, drawing praise from head coach Frank de Boer after coming on in the 55th minute.
"It turned out to be a good choice. I exchanged him for Arek because I just wanted a different type of striker," De Boer told Ajax Life.
"Someone who is good at holding the ball up. He is good at that and then we made it 3-0."
