Arsenal striker Benik Afobe says his preseason is already underway.

Afobe is set to feature for England at this summer's Under-19 European Championship and the powerful striker is leaving nothing to chance with his fitness.

"I have been at the training ground to do a bit of work in the gym," he told the Official Arsenal Magazine. "It's important to keep fit during the summer, even though it can be tough to motivate yourself sometimes when your mates are all having fun.

"Jack Wilshere and Carl Jenkinson were at the training ground too, so it was good to see them. It was like a pre-pre-season for us so we are ahead when the real work starts soon.

"As a sportsman though you love it, the aim is to be 100 per cent ready for England Under-19s, then for the start of Arsenal's season. I have a short holiday coming up, but then it's back to the football."
