Arsenal young gun Bellerin doubts he would have made it at Barcelona

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin doubts he would be the same player today if he had stayed at Barcelona.

Bellerin, who recently turned 20, came through the Catalan club's youth system before moving to north London in 2011.

Former Spain U19 international Bellerin is enjoying a breakthrough season with the Gunners owing to the injuries to Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers.

The Spaniard made his full Arsenal debut in the Champions League group stage defeat to Borussia Dortmund earlier in the campaign and has gone on to make 16 starts this season. He also earned his first call up for U21 Spain team this month.

"It's great to play 'at home' and have everything where you've grown up," he told Spanish publication Marca. "But sometimes you've got to get out of your comfort zone and discover new challenges.

"Wherever you are, you have to work hard. But if I had stayed in Barcelona I don't know if I would have got to the top, the elite.

"We'll never know. I have worked as hard as I could and always with the mentality of going as far and as high as possible. Wherever I was I would have done the same."
