Arsenal won't go higher for Liverpool striker Suarez

Arsenal refuse to up their bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. The London Evening Standard says Arsenal are refusing to increase their £40,000,001 bid for Suarez in the belief that any ruling by the Premier League over the Liverpool striker's contract dispute will fall in their favour.

Neither Suarez nor his club have contacted the Premier League to settle their disagreement involving their differing interpretations of a clause in his current deal at Anfield.

Suarez believes any offer above £40million tabled by a Champions League club entitles him to leave while Liverpool insist it is merely a trigger for negotiations to begin. In agreement are the Gunners, who were accused of a lack of class by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers for their offer of £1 over £40m but clearly that figure has been reached in the belief it was the bare minimum required to activate Suarez's release clause.
