Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos this week, the London Evening Standardhas claimed.

Papasthathopoulos will become Unai Emery's first signing for the Gunners.

Head of recruitment Sven Mislintat previously worked with the Greek centre-back at Borussia Dortmund. He'll join ex-teammates Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at the Emirates.

The club is also looking to sign another new central defender as well as a central midfielder and are reportedly in negotiations with veteran right-back Stephen Lichtsteiner, whose contract with Juventus is set to expire next month.
