Arsenal whiz Gibbs plays down Giggs comparison

Arsenal whizkid Kieran Gibbs is eager to dodge comparisons with Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has likened the England U17 winger with Giggs, but Gibbs told the Arsenal Matchday Programme: "Ryan Giggs is a great player, one of the best that has played in the Premier League for over a decade, and he is still up there. It is a tremendous compliment to hear Mr Wenger say that, but I'm not sure if he meant we were the same style of player or there was something in my game that reminded him of Giggs.

"Hopefully, it was more than our surnames sounding similar and that we're both left-footed," he smiles, adding: "I think I tend to cut inside more than Giggs does who is more of an out and out winger. I tend to work more with the full backs who bomb forward, but I suppose having players with the pace of Armand Traore and Gael Clichy, it's natural.

"Also, I like to play in the middle of the pitch a bit more than Ryan Giggs has tended to do. The youth-team players picked up on it though. All they did when we got back to training after my day off was call me 'Giggsy'!"
