Arsenal turn to Malouda after passing on Ajax's Babel

Arsenal are turning to Lyon winger Florent Malouda after manager Arsene Wenger decided to drop long-term interest in Ajax attacker Ryan Babel.

The Independent says talks are expected to take place as early as tomorrow over a £10 million move from the French champions Lyon to Arsenal.

Arsenal have decided against a move for the Ajax winger Babel after considering bidding for the Dutch international in January. Although he would cost less than Malouda, Wenger is unsure that Babel is of the highest standard.
