Sol Campbell is set to start for Arsenal against Manchester United on Sunday.
Campbell, 35, has rejoined Arsenal as cover and to pass on experience to Arsène Wenger's young side. However, he is likely to find himself pitched into the heat of the title race in place of Thomas Vermaelen, the Belgium central defender.
Vermaelen suffered a possible fractured leg in the early stages of the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park last night. He left the ground on crutches and is due to have an X-ray today. "It is the fibula," Wenger said. "But we're not sure if it is a nerve or if it is a bone. We should find out in the morning. It was not a dirty game but it was a committed game."
To add to Wenger's headaches, Eduardo da Silva, the Croatia striker, will miss the game against United after he pulled up lame in the second half with a hamstring strain. "It is a small tear, but he will be out on Sunday," he said.
