Arsenal's huge new Emirates Stadium is looking to challenge Wembley Stadium and the O2 Arena as one of London's premier concert venues, Sound Generator.com reveals.
They report that the 65,000 capacity stadium has applied for planning permission to host concerts year-round in a bid to attract some of the biggest names in rock and pop - establishing it as the biggest of central London's live entertainment venues.
Current planning restrictions limit the stadium to just three non-football events a year.
No other details are yet available but if planning permission is granted by Islington council, Emirates could see concerts as soon as summer 2008.
