Arsenal are waiting for a response from Corinthians over their offer for midfielder Paulinho.

The Daily Express says the Gunners made an ambitious £9million bid to sign Brazilian midfielder Paulinho in a bid to bolster forces at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger will face stiff competition from Inter Milan for the Corinthians player but are hoping to secure a deal before the Italians make a move.

Paulinho will be Arsenal's third signing of the season and will team up with Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski up front.

The Brazilian still has three years left on his contract and the Corinthians have said they are unwilling to sell him.
