Arsenal striker Giroud: We owe Red Star win to Cech

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed that his club have to thank goalkeeper Petr Cech following their 1-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in a Europa League encounter on Thursday.

The French international Giroud sealed victory for the Gunners in the 85th minute when he managed to score a spectacular over-head kick following some impressive work by Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott.

The Gunners could have lost the game had it not been for a good performance from Cech. The veteran goalkeeper did well to deny Nemanja Radonjic during both halves as well as a header from Nenad Krstcic.

"We owe him maybe the win today because he has been amazing two or three times," Giroud said of Cech.

"We know he has this quality and he was a great goalkeeper tonight."

Arsenal next play on Sunday when they take on Everton in a Premier League encounter.
