Arsenal striker Bendtner's Sunderland spell ends in farce

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner ended his time with Sunderland in farce, it has been revealed.

The Daily Mail says Bendtner ended his loan spell at Sunderland by missing the team bus before the last game of the season, against Manchester United.

Bendtner, who was a surprise omission when Martin O'Neill named his squad, had spent the night before the game with the rest of the first-team group in a Durham hotel, where Sunderland often stay before home matches.

But the Denmark forward wasn't on board when the team bus was ready to leave for the Stadium of Light and a furious O'Neill wasn't prepared to wait for him.

Bendtner, who earns £52,000 a week, had to take a taxi but didn't have any money on him and had to organise payment on arrival with the Sunderland reception staff.
