Arsenal striker Aubameyang slams Gabon FA over injury validity

Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has defended his decision to pull out of Gabon's upcoming fixture against Mali on Saturday.

The Gabon FA have accused Aubameyang of not being interested in their fixtures after he pulled out of a game against South Sudan last month.

But the 29-year-old says the Gabon FA were informed that he was injured.

He said: "It's bizarre. Any FA will publish the reason why one of its players can't report for international duty.

"But in this case, our association definitely received an e-mail from my doctor (saying I am injured).

"However, they still haven't made this fact public.

"People are going to say that Aubameyang declined to turn up.

"It looks as though I have refused to come along for a different reason."
