Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey's career is in the balance today.

The News of the World says the Arsenal youngster's right leg was shattered by a sickening Ryan Shawcross tackle in the Gunners' 3-1 victory.

The midfielder was given oxygen by medics before being strapped to a stretcher and rushed into an ambulance.

He was transferred to a London hospital were he underwent emergency surgery last night.

Shawcross was in tears as he was sent off by referee Peter Walton, while Arsenal stars Thomas Vermaelen, skipper Cesc Fabregas and Niklas Bendtner were visibly distraught.
