Arsene Wenger has claimed Alexis Sanchez becomes a 'devil' when he walks onto the pitch.
The Arsenal manager was unsure of starting Sanchez due to a knock he was carrying, but forty minutes prior to kick off, Wenger made his decision and threw Sanchez into the starting line-up.
For the much-maligned Wenger, it turned out to be a worthy risk.
Arsenal needed all three points to keep their slim chances of sneaking in the top four alive, and after 70 minutes, the match seemed as if it was destined to end up a stalemate.
But then up popped Sanchez, who scored a brace in the final 18 minutes to help rescue the Gunners.
Commenting on his decision of whether to start Alexis or not, Wenger said: "With him, I feel he had something still left, but once he's on the pitch and gets the ball, he always becomes a devil and forgets his pain."
Sanchez has been linked with a move away from the Emirates, as he has yet to extend his contract beyond the 2017-18 season.
However, Wenger was quick to remind everyone that his development has risen dramatically since arriving in north London.
He said: "Nobody questions his desire and his quality. It shows as well that if you look at his numbers, he has developed here as a player and has become a top-class player and has not wasted his time here. Hopefully that will last for a long time."
