Crevoisier convinced that Wenger’s decision to place such faith in young players will be vindicated, particularly when the new Uefa rules on ‘financial fair-play’ are fully implemented.
“It is unfair for Arsenal to compete with clubs who don’t have the same rules,” he says. “At Chelsea, Roman Abramovich gave Jose Mourinho the money to buy the best players in the world. Rafael Benítez took 68 players in five years at Liverpool.
“For Arsenal, the problem is to keep their players as long as possible. If you keep players like Fabregas, Wilshere and Szczesny for three or four years, what they do must be special.
“When Arsène leaves Arsenal — and he will finish his job there — he will leave a new stadium, a new academy, a great team and enough money for the club. It will be an incredible legacy.”
