Arsenal to slap in bid for wantaway Lille striker Kalou

Arsenal are ready to try again for Lille striker Salomon Kalou. The London Evening Standard says the 28-year-old has two years left on his contract at Lille but is intent on leaving at the end of the season.

Kalou claimed to have turned down a last-minute deal to join the Gunners on loan during the January transfer window because he wanted to help the French team qualify for the Champions League - they are third in Ligue 1, six points behind Monaco and a further 13 adrift of leaders Paris St Germain.

However, he is keen on a return to the Premier League after a six-year stay at Stamford Bridge and could be available for as little as £2.5million.

Arsene Wenger is planning to address his forward line in the summer - assuming he signs a new deal to stay at Arsenal - and Kalou is believed to have been included on a long list of possible transfer targets.
