Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has described rookie fullback Kieran Gibbs as a "phenomenon".

"Kieran is a phenomenon," said the Spain midfielder. "He is very young, but at 19 years of age seems to be a veteran.

"He was able to stand up to Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney (against Manchester United). We've known about him for a long time from training. He has taken the opportunity given by (Arsene) Wenger.

"He has improved a lot."
