Gervinho could hand Theo Walcott a first team battle at Arsenal.
Gervinho, an £11m signing from Lille, who makes his debut today, favours the right side of midfield.
Asked if he is a direct threat to Theo Walcott, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: "He is a threat to everybody up front.
"He can play on the right, the left and through the middle."
