Arsenal signing Arshavin: I'll prove Wenger correct

Andrey Arshavin says he's determined to settle quickly at Arsenal.

"I haven't spent so much time with the team yet, but realise that other Arsenal players will understand me if they want to," said the Russia international.

"There's another complication because many of them speak French. So I'll wait and see. If I need to learn another language, I'm ready to do it."

Arshavin took English lessons ahead of his switch from Zenit St Petersburg to Arsenal. He made clear that the chance to play for Arsene Wenger was crucial to his desire to come to Arsenal.

"For me, my move Arsenal is a new big challenge. I have a chance to work with a great manager.

"In the past I couldn't even dream about being in one team with such talents as Arsene Wenger, Guus Hiddink and Dick Advocaat. I'm very happy that after coming through the school of the two Dutchmen, I now have a chance to learn a lot from another big boss. My whole future is linked to Arsenal now. My contract is until 2012.

"I'll do my very best to be useful for the club and hope they will never regret buying me."

Arshavin stressed that he may take some time to adjust to England.

"All my life I lived in St Petersburg where I was born, where I played for only one team. Everything was clear and familiar to me. In England everything is different: language, traditions, people's mentality.

"But I'm trying to adjust to it all quickly as I want to start playing for Arsenal as soon as possible."

He is not worried that some players from the former Soviet Union have flopped in the Premier League.

"Honestly, I didn't even think about that. Some people do well, some don't. It's always like this."
