Arsenal will shift focus to signing Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Arsene Wenger will be desperate to sign a striker if Emmanuel Adebayor completes a move to Manchester City and even more so if the mooted move for Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh falls through.
The French club are open to a move for Chamakh but only if the Gunners include Mikael Silvestre in the deal, which is not in Wenger's interests.
