Arsenal seek cut-price deal for Newcastle midfielder Tiote

Arsenal are moving for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote. The Daily Star says the 28-year-old is understood to be keen to end his four-year stay with the Magpies in order to land a move to a club currently playing in a European competition.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is currently in the market for a holding midfielder to bolster the spine of his team, and Tiote, who is known his tough tackling, would certainly fit the bill.

Arsenal have been linked with moves for Real Madrid star Sami Khedira and Sporting Lisbon ace William Carvalho this summer, but are also aware Tiote would be a much cheaper alternative.
