Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger concedes his side was well beaten by Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners went down 3-1 to the reigning champions in a match that could have put them right in the title hunt but a loss of this magnitude has now raised some concerns on whether the Londoners are good enough to compete for the Premiership.
Wenger admitted his team was not good enough but did say a loss like that was hard to take.
"It's difficult to accept but easy to explain because we were poor offensively and defensively. We delivered an off-the mark performance and that is why we were well beaten. We were naïve," Wenger said.
He also added that it was not only Wayne Rooney that caused problems for the Gunners who put in a less than average performance defensively.
"It was not just Rooney who gave us problems. We gave them too much room everywhere. Rooney took advantage of it," he added.
"We conceded two goals from a corner for us and it turned into a goal for them. It was our positioning that was wrong.
"It is a massive blow and a massive disappointment but we have to recover from that. It is part of top Premier football. The players are really down."
