Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he did not think Chelsea would give the top job to Andre Villas-Boas but says he 'likes' the Portuguese tactician.
Villas-Boas was appointed as Blues boss in the summer to replace Carlo Ancelotti after a phenomenal season with FC Porto and he has had an impressive beginning to life at helm of the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Ahead of tomorrow's clash between the two sides, Wenger admits he was surprised the 34-year old got the nod but is confident he will do well for Southwest Londoners.
"I'm surprised he was appointed because it is a big task and a big responsibility for a young man," said the Frenchman on his club's official website.
"But they knew him because he had already worked there before so they must have detected qualities that make them feel he is competent enough to do it.
"I like Villas-Boas because he is a man who speaks his mind. He is intelligent and likes to play as well.
"He likes to play football; he likes to go forward so it should be an interesting game on Saturday."
