Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits he is not focusing on club captain Robin van Persie's potential goalscoring record.
The Dutchman equaled Thierry Henry's club record of 34 Premier League goals in a calendar year when he struck from the penalty spot in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Aston Villa and now just needs two goals from the remaining two matches in 2011.
But Wenger insists it is not something he is wasting too much energy on as he would rather pick up much-needed points prior to the New Year.
"He is an exceptional player, but what is important is that we win our games this Christmas.
He added: "The target for him is to be better in 2012.
"In sport you have always to have that target, to be better than what you have done before." "The individual records are not vital for me, they are just a sign that the team scores," he said.
