Arsenal's Wenger backs Walcott's England call-up

Arsene Wenger is fully behind England's decision to call Theo Walcott into the squad for upcoming international matches.

The 25-year old Arsenal winger returned to action on the weekend with a short cameo in the 3-0 win over Burnley after missing 10 months with a serious knee injury.

Surprisingly, Walcott was included in Roy Hodgson's Three Lions roster for the November 15 Euro2016 qualifier with Slovenia and the friendly with Scotland that follows but it was a call which Wenger has welcomed.

"He's available and has been chosen by England. Roy Hodgson is free to do what he wants," said Wenger ahead of Sunday's trip to Swansea City.

"Theo needs competition, he's been out for 10 months. People think it's like mechanics, but these are human beings not machines.

"To get back into the rhythm, of the top, top level of competition will take time."
