Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes lead-up form for the North London derby against Tottenham never reads well for the actual contest.
The Gunners host their rivals at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow and the Polish goalkeeper, who is ready to return to action after an injury absence, says form should not even come into account when trying to decode a fixture against Spurs.
Arsenal, who sit eighth on the Premier League table, have been below their best in recent times whilst Tottenham have been mixing their form and Szczesny is none the wiser as to what both teams will produce on the day.
"It's a massive game, and it doesn't really matter what form you are in when it comes around," Szczesny told the club's official matchday programme.
"Both teams have had some disappointing results recently, but it's all about commitment in this one and I'm confident we can go out there and get the job done.
"Hopefully it can have the same effect for us that it did in February, when it really kick-started our season.
"It comes a little bit earlier this year, so after a frustrating couple of weeks we hope a similar thing can happen - and over a longer period."
