Arsenal youngster Ryo Miyaichi admits he was nervous but in the end thrilled to make his international debut for Japan.
The 19-year old winger played the final half-hour of the Blue Samurai's 2-0 win over Azerbaijan in Shizuoka on Wednesday and was happy with his performance.
Miyaichi, who had an impressive loan spell with Bolton in the second part of last season, is now looking forward to Japan's 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Oman, Jordan and Australia and is keen to net his first international goal as soon as possible.
"I expect the qualifiers to be nothing short of difficult.
"I have scored my first goals in the second game with Feyenoord and Bolton. So I want to score with my second game (with Japan).""I was a little nervous out there, but I'm thrilled to have set foot on the pitch for the national side," he said.
