Arsenal's Bendtner suffers injury on international duty

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner may miss this weekend's clash with Manchester City after injuring his knee whilst playing for Denmark on the weekend.

The 21-year old last just half an hour as the Danes accounted for Malta 3-0 in World Cup qualifying and he will almost certainly miss Wednesday's next international with Albania.

"There is a high probability that we must send him home to England," Denmark team, doctor Soren Kaalund told Ekstra Bladet.

"Such an injury requires rest and rest, and it is not a good opportunity here."

National team manager Morten Olsen added, in a more cautious statement: "We opted to switch him out to not aggravate the injury for Wednesday's match against Albania.

"It is an unfortunate injury, but we do not know yet how it looks in terms of Wednesday. He has irritation and pain in the left knee."
