Arsenal have not given up their pursuit of AS Roma striker Mattia Destro. The Daily Star says Villarreal want striker Joel Campbell on loan until the end of the season as part of any deal that takes Gabriel Paulista to Emirates Stadium, leaving Arsenal free to swoop for Roma striker Destro.

Arsene Wenger has already shipped out Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo on loan, leaving him short of options up front.

The Frenchman currently has just Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as senior options, with youngsters Campbell and Chuba Akpom waiting in reserve.

And if Villarreal succeed in getting Campbell on loan until the end of the campaign, Wenger will be free to swoop for Roma ace Destro.

Reports from Italy suggest Arsenal are due to hold talks with Destro's agent Claudio Vigorelli over a move today.
