Arsenal have approached Ajax to open talks over a fee for Toby Alderweireld.
Algemeen Dagblad says the Gunners have reached out to their former star Marc Overmars, now Ajax sporting director, to discuss a fee for the Belgium defender.
However, they cannot count on any favours from Overmars, who refuses to budge on the club's €7.5 million valuation.
"If they want one of our players, they must be prepared to meet our price," said the former Gunners winger.
