Arsenal made it three wins out of three in Group H of the Champions League as they cruised past Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 at The Emirates. The scoreline reflects how the game went with Shakhtar offering very little and the Gunners taking full advantage.

Arsenal have now scored 14 goals already in the Champions League this season and are closing in on a place in the knockout phase of the competition.

The visitors keeper Andriy Pyatov had a nightmare and gifted Alex Song the opening goal. Samir Nasri then doubled the hosts advantage before the break.

Three second half goals in nine minutes completed the rout.

Cesc Fabregas scored from the penalty spot, Jack Wilshere made it four and Marouane Chamakh rounded off the evening's entertainment with number five.

Shakhtar did grab a late consolation through substitute, and former Arsenal player, Eduardo who whilst he refused to celebrate his strike the Gunners fans warmly applauded his effort.

At this rate Arsene Wenger's team are well on course to better Manchester United's record of 20 goals from 1998/99.
