The Gunners were irresistible against the Blues on Saturday, particularly in the first half, and followed that display up by playing Basel off the park in the opening 45 minutes in Europe.
Theo Walcott's brace inside the opening half-hour set up the eventual 2-0 win which Wenger feels was an extension of their return to top form in the London derby.
"We eased off a bit in the second half and we couldn't score the third goal," Wenger said at his post-match press conference thanks to Arsenal.com.
"We still had plenty of chances but it's tough to maintain that pace, accuracy in the passing and speed in the game over 90 minutes.
"The first half was top, top quality like what we produced against Chelsea."
