Arsenal ponder shock move for Liverpool defender Agger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining up a shock move for Liverpool defender Dan Agger. The Daily Star says Danish reports suggest his former club Brondby are facing added competition from the Gunners for the Anfield outcast.

Brondby chairman Jan Bech Andersen revealed earlier this month that the Danish club were prepared to do everything in their power to re-sign the defender Liverpool.

"We will work really, really hard to secure Daniel but as he has also said, when he was here with Liverpool, the timing has to be right," he said.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly preparing to pip Brondby to the Denmark international as a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who is set to leave the club this summer.

Barcelona are currently believed to be leading the race for the Gunners skipper, with Manchester United also understood to be interested in the centre back.
