Arsenal are weighing up making a new offer for Everton defender Phil Jagielka.
The Sunday Mirror says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has put the England international at the top of his transfer wish-list as he looks to bring some steel to the centre of his defence.
But Jagielka missed Everton's pre-season friendly at Norwich yesterday after breaking down in training during the week.
And after missing most of last season with a ruptured cruciate ligament, Wenger wants to be certain that Jagielka's fitness problems haven't returned.
An Everton insider said last night: "Phil missed the trip to Norwich after taking a bang on his knee, but he is expected to play against Everton Chile in midweek."
