Arsenal ponder early bid for Bolton's Jaaskelainen

Arsenal are considering a January swoop for Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Contract negotiations with Bolton have stalled and Jaaskelainen's agent Peter Harrison believes it is unlikely they will be revived.

"There are no talks planned," Harrison said. "I think Jussi will be leaving at the end of the season." The Telegraph says Arsenal are in the market for quality back up for current first choice goalkeeper Manuel Almunia with the probability that out of favour Jens Lehmann will leave the Emirates Stadium in January in a bid to preserve his place in the German national side for the European Championships next summer.

Jaaskelainen would fit the bill perfectly due to his experience of the Premier League and his unquestioned talent.
