Arsenal are keen to sign Napoli striker Dries Mertens in January.

The Mirror says Arsenal were in for Mertens this summer before the Belgian penned a new deal with the Italian club.

The Gunners reportedly showed an interest in the 30-year-old after his 34-goal season.

There is hope yet for Arsene Wenger though as Napoli included a highly attractive buyout clause to ensure he extended his stay in Naples.
