Arsenal planning bid for Newcastle midfielder Cabaye

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen on Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen on Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

The Daily Star Sunday says the Gunners were put off making an offer for Cabaye after the Toon’s £20million valuation of the France international midfielder, 26, last summer.

But boss Wenger remains an admirer of his compatriot and reckons he would add much-needed bite, as well as creativity, to the Arsenal midfield.

Wenger also likes St James’ Park striker Demba Ba – but insists he will not make a move for the Senegal frontman, who has a £7.5m release clause in his contract.
