Arsenal plan to bring forward Wilshere captaincy plans

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to replace skipper Thomas Vermaelen with Jack Wilshere.

The Daily Mail says Wilshere, who turned 21 in January, could become the club's full-time skipper from next season.

A plan was in place to give the influential midfielder the armband by 2015 but the club are considering bringing that plan forward.

Vermaelen's performances have dipped since being made captain before this season.
