Arsenal had the chance to sign Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar yesterday - for less than the 16 million paid for Manchester United's Danny Welbeck.Junge Welt says Arsenal were in contact with Schalke about triggering Huntelaar's buyout clause.
It's understood the Dutchman could be signed for €16 million and the move was being discussed.
But then negotiations came to an abrupt end late in the afternoon as Arsenal focused on Welbeck.
Huntelaar, 31, has never hidden his hopes of playing in England before the end of his career.
