Arsenal have revealed they will not be making any silly offers to match Manchester United in their pursuit of Southampton starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Gunners have reportedly made an initial £5million bid which could reach £8million down the track but chairman Peter Hill-Wood insists the London club won't up the ante if the reports of United come in with a better offer are true.
"If Manchester United want to outbid us with some silly figure, that is their privilege. I think the boy would like to come to us," he said.
It is believed that Oxlade-Chamberlain is keen to join Arsenal and has even told the club he wants to land at the Emirates.
