Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly monitoring Everton youngster Jack Rodwell and Fulham defender Brede Hangeland.
It is believed that the French tactician is keen to bring in central defensive reinforcements after the 4-1 thrashing by Barcelona in Europe and Hangeland fits that mould.
Along with the Norwegian, Wenger has also been linked with Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic as he tries to solve the problem of having veterans William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre out of contract.
Rodwell is being targeted to be used as a central midfielder to replace the injured Aaron Ramsey and god forbid, the potential departure of captain Cesc Fabregas.
