Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Ajax centre-half Jan Vertonghen.
The 23-year old has come under interest from the Gunners with manager Arsene Wenger keen to partner him up with Belgium teammate Thomas Vermaelen in defence.
Vertonghen has also attracted interest from clubs like Juventus and Barcelona but the connection between he and Vermaelen indicates that Arsenal have a solid 'in' and the fact that Ajax have been recently forced to sell players may work in the Gunners' favour.
