Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere insists he didn't buy himself a new motor to cheer himself up.

It was claimed Wilshere splashed out on the car after being ruled out for five months following ankle surgery.

But he tweeted this morning: "To the sun, the story in the bizzarre section is not true! I brought a range rover because I am going to be a dad soon and need a bigger car

"Not because I am bored at home I brought it 2 weeks ago before I knew I needed an operation!"
