Arsenal midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain: I've actually played more this season

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain insists he's not been frustrated by his progress this season.

He points out that he's actually played more first team football this term than last season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain told The Sun: "I'm only in my second season at Arsenal. If I'd known I would be in this position so quickly when I moved from Southampton, I would have taken it with both hands.

"I am still only 19 so for anyone of my age to be playing for Arsenal and to be making England squads is a good thing. I just have to make sure when I get my chances I need to keep proving that I deserve to be where I am.

"I think I've made steps forward this season in terms of my overall game. But the way the first season went and took off so quickly the whole hype machine went with it.

"I've actually played more this season than last season but people don't seem to know that. Robin van Persie spoke to me at the end of last season and told me not to get frustrated if I didn't always start."
