Now he has impressed for the French under-21 side on international duty. The played in a 2-2 draw against Croatia under-21s and was very impactful.

L'Equipe labeled him as "the boss" after the game.

"Everything is going very fast with Mattéo Guendouzi, first selection at the Espoirs, in the early evening against Croatia," The French media outlet wrote about Guendouzi after the game.

"So fast that in ninety minutes, the former Lorient, spent this summer at Arsenal under the orders of Unai Emery, offered a personal performance quite bluffing, in the game, as in attitude.

"By the gestures, the confidence that he releases, by his raids too, including the one that brought the equalising goal of the Blueberries (Bamba, 82nd), Guendouzi gave the impression of being, at 19, the boss."
