Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida is set to join Atletico Madrid.

The News of the World says Merida, 20, who was dubbed the new Cesc Fabregas, has only made four Premier League appearances this season and is desperate to get his career back on track.

Reports in Spain say he has already agreed a five-year deal with Atletico and will announce his move at the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger was keen to keep Merida at the Emirates, but the Barcelona-born midfielder will be out of contract in June.
