Arsenal are ready to move for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill.
Cahill is wanted by England's biggest clubs, including the Gunners, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.
The News of the World says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will step up their chase for Cahill after accepting Thomas Vermaelen will not be fully fit until next season at the earliest.
Wenger knows he has been caught short this season over the lack of central defensive options available to him.
