Arsenal have the funds to buy Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
The Sunday Mirror says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has never had only Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer in his sights. He has instructed his scouts to scour the world for a potential signing. They even had the funds to make an approach for Liverpool's Reina.
That suggestion was firmly rejected by Anfield boss Roy Hodgson. Schwarzer, who celebrated his 38th birthday last week, may become available in the January window.
But Wenger could be tempted to revert to a younger recruit as the worrying doubts about Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski refuse to disappear.
